BADFELLAS: Bunty, the notable gang conductor who terrorized Fresh

Police pored over the clan's Canada Revenue Agency tax returns. They checked land title records and B.C. Assessments. They monitored large lump sums of cash plunked down on mortgages and tracked from whose bank accounts the withdrawals were made.
They clandestinely listened to phone calls as Ye and others not only allegedly discussed their cross-border cocaine transactions, but how they were going to transport huge sums of money - some of which, police allege, were used to purchase millions of dollars of real estate in several names and two provinces.
Investigators contacted the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada, the government agency charged with tracking money-laundering and terrorism-related transactions through Canada's banking system.Last November, confident they had untangled the complicated financial web of an international crime syndicate, they secretly went to B.C. Supreme Court and requested an ex parte order to freeze nine properties in B.C. and Ontario believed to have been bought with Ye's drug money.Details of the extraordinary investigation are contained in a 110-page affidavit by Insp. Mike Ryan, in charge of CFSEU's proceeds-of-crime team.
While the affidavit was sealed in Supreme Court, it was later filed as an exhibit in the Federal Court of Canada as part of the government's defence against allegations by the Hells Angels that police were colluding with the revenue agency to investigate the biker gang.Ryan said in his Federal Court covering affidavit that the Ye case shows what police can accomplish when they have the ability to review tax records under special circumstances."If the tax information is supportive of an accumulation of wealth that is not accounted for through legitimate income sources, it is vital evidence in all proceeds of crime and offence related property investigations," Ryan said."The information obtained through those orders was vital to the restraint of assets believed to be the proceeds of crime of Yong Long Ye and his family resulting from Mr. Ye's involvement in the matters for which he was arrested: namely conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to produce and export methamphetamine and participation in a criminal organization."
Ye and several associates were arrested and charged nine days after Associate Chief Justice Patrick Dohm granted the order freezing the Ye-linked houses and condos in Metro Vancouver and Toronto.Several law enforcement agencies attended a news conference Dec. 12 to announce they had cracked the biggest drug syndicate in B.C. history after a massive 14-month investigation dubbed Operation E-Paragon.
Ye's arrest as the leader of the gang was like "cutting the head off the snake," Vancouver police Insp. Dean Robinson said at the time.
Drugs worth $168 million on the street had been seized, including more than 640 kilograms of cocaine, 111 kilograms of methamphetamines, 83 kilograms of ecstasy, 26 units of heroin and 7,832 pounds of marijuana. Several guns had also been found.
Investigators allege Ye, who is due in court Sept. 11 to fix a trial date, arranged cocaine to be transported from Los Angeles to Ontario, with the huge profits sent back to Vancouver from Toronto with couriers traveling on Westjet flights.
"Between July 10, 2007 and November 16, 2007, over $4.6 million in Canadian dollars was transported in this way," Ryan said in his affidavit.
He also explained how police investigated the cash shipments without alerting the criminals involved by secretly examining the couriers' bags before they were picked up in Vancouver."On all occasions, when the luggage was opened, large amounts of Canadian cash in vacuum sealed packages were found. These packages were frequently labeled specifying the amount of cash each package contained. Each occasion the general warrant was executed, the cash bundles were photographed, re-packed in the luggage and claimed at the carousel by the courier identified on the luggage tag," Ryan's affidavit said. He said the shipments were not seized "as to do so would have compromised the integrity of the drug investigation."
Police watched as the couriers were picked up by Ye himself, his wife Zhang or, at least once, Zhang's mother Cui Lian Lu."Police surveillance confirmed that on all but one occasion they were driven to 3418 Deering Island Place in Vancouver," the court documents say. "These currency couriers remained at the Deering Island address for a few hours, or just overnight, and were driven back to Vancouver International Airport where they took return flights to Toronto."
Coded phone conversations allegedly referring to the couriered cash are highlighted in the documents. On July 10, 2007, Ye's Toronto contact told him "dinner would be arriving at 11 o'clock." Ye then asked "how much rent money did the master return?" and the contact replied "28, two and that it would be tomorrow breakfast."

Ryan said Ye's contact was telling him "that $280,000 would be arriving twice with one courier at dinner time and one courier at breakfast time."

He said the time references match up with two couriered deliveries watched on July 10 and 11 by investigators.

Some of the couriers' luggage tags for the suspect bags were found in the trash outside of Ye's house during several unscheduled police garbage pick-ups, the court documents say.

It was this cash, police allege, that Ye used to purchase seven Lower Mainland homes as well as two Metro Toronto penthouses in the last few years.

Several of the properties were bought in the names of family members of Ye and his wife, forcing a careful analysis by investigators to track the transactions back to Ye.

Humble orgins

Ye's origins in Canada were humble.

According to the court documents, the 41-year-old Chinese national arrived at Vancouver Airport for the first time on October 7, 1989, with his mom, Li Juan Ye, to immigrate.

"Neither reported possessing any money upon entry, nor money to be transferred from China to Canada," Ryan notes. "They were both sponsored by Mon Yee Kuang, Yong Ye's sister who resided in Vancouver."

Two years later, Ye's spouse to be, Jean Zhang, landed at the same airport to immigrate, along with her dad Yim-Fen Cheung.

"Neither reported possessing any money upon entry, nor money to be transferred from China to Canada," Ryan said again. "However, in a prior immigration application, Yim-Fen Cheung stated that he would have $10,000 Hong Kong dollars and jewelry when he arrived in Canada."

By November 1993, Ye's would-be mother-in-law, Cui Lian Lu, arrived for immigration.

"A condition of her landing was that she marry her sponsor, Yim-Fen Cheung, within 90 days," Ryan said.

It was this little group, eventually united by family relationships, that would soon amass a suspicious fortune in real estate and luxury cars, including a Porsche Cayenne often seen picking up the cash couriers at Vancouver airport.

Their extravagant lifestyle, police allege, did not match the modest incomes reported to the CRA.

From 2000 to 2006, Ye, Zhang, their parents, as well as Ye's sister Mon Ye Kuang and her husband She Ho Kuang, reported a total income of $872,947, with a larger disposable income of $960,447, the court documents say.

"Yong Ye has since 2000, and with his common-law wife Jean Shu Zhen Zhang since 2003, acquired substantial assets, the value of which exceeds their combined legitimate ability to purchase those assets," Ryan said.

"The investigation has demonstrated Yong Ye's use of family members and associates ... into whose names, real property and debt have been registered, thereby ensuring that his wealth, derived from the drug business, is not immediately attributable to him personally, reducing the likelihood of detection by authorities."

But the documents show the authorities made extraordinary efforts to track Ye's fortune and show his tentacles extend to these properties:

- 4747 Killarney Street in Vancouver, owned by Ye's mother-in-law, Cui Lian Lu.

- 1505-8831 Lansdowne Road in Richmond, owned by Ye.

- 3306 Parker Street in Vancouver, owned by Ye associate Hui Rong (Cappuccino) Yao.

- 3116 East 18th Avenue in Vancouver, owned by Ye's mother, Li Juan Ye.

- 7162 Stirling Street in Vancouver, owned by Ye's brother-in-law She Ho Kuang.

- 5088 Calder Court in Richmond, owned by Ye's father-in-law Yim-Fen Cheung.

- 3418 Deering Island Place in Vancouver, owned by Ye's wife Jean Shu Zhen Zhang.

- Penthouse 103, 8 Lee Centre Drive in Scarborough, Ont., owned by Ye and Zhang.

- Upper Penthouse 10, 62 Suncrest Boulevard in Markham, Ont., owned by Ye's sister Mon Yee Kuang.

Police were able to determine that mortgages on these properties were often paid off without explanation, that payments sometimes came from accounts linked to Ye even when the houses were in other names and that Ye would refer to "his" properties in phone conversations, even when the houses officially belonged to relatives.

"Yong Ye's reported income and the reported income of members of his family in whose names the properties are registered, as provided to the Canada Revenue Agency, are insufficient to support the purchase and maintenance of the debt associated to these properties," Ryan says.

At one point last year, Ye's mom became concerned when he said he wanted to sell the east Vancouver house listed under her name, according to the documents.

In a bugged call on May 9, 2007, Ye and a woman police believe is his mom discussed her concerns about giving him power of attorney so he could borrow against her house or sell it.

"Another unknown female came to the phone and said that Ye's mother was asking what protection she would have after signing the power of attorney and Ye said: 'What is the meaning of this? This house is mine. I don't understand.'"

Ye's aunt later said in another intercepted conversation that "his mother is worried that she won't have a house to live in. Ye said everything belongs to him and that he didn't mean to not take care of her," the court documents said.
One of the suspicious house purchases took place on June 26, 2007, when Ye's father-in-law bought the property at 5088 Calder Court in Richmond for $960,000 even though his reported income as a "construction worker" would not have supported a million-dollar home, police say.
Ryan pointed to a series of intercepted Ye calls, in which he appeared to be making all the arrangements for the transaction with the real estate agent.
At one point, Ye complained about the price "said he was buying a house at 960,000 when he only offered 950,000," Ryan's affidavit said.
In another call, Ye's wife appeared to be planning to put $198,000 in her dad's account for the house purchase. A month after the Calder Court house was purchased, Ye's father-in-law plunked down another $200,000 cash on the mortgage.
At one point last September on the police wiretap, Ye's wife allegedly asked an unknown man for false payroll cheques for her husband - each for $4,000.
"We won't cash them," Zhang said. "We just need them to fax over to the bank. When the bank has a copy of them, then we return the cheques to you. .... The cheques have to have the company's name on them. So it is the cheques you use for the payroll."Those named in the affidavit clearly seemed concerned about raising suspicions if too much money was deposited in certain accounts in a short period of time.
One caller told Ye's wife that she would split the funds into separate cheques "so the amount is not too large."And she said: "If you write these three ones under your mother's name, then the money can be taken right away. I don't want to focus just on your name, since if I need to explain it, I won't be able."
The documents cited intercepted phone conversations last summer showing that Ye was willing to take property in exchange for drug debts.
In one call, Ye gave instructions to a Toronto contact to "determine if a male person they referred to as 'Tall Guy' would relinquish a 2,000- to 3,000-square-foot residence to settle a $60,000 debt owed to Ye," Ryan said, adding that the contact said "Tall Guy" had agreed to list the property for $470,000.
"Ye said he would pretend to give "Tall Guy" "$410,000 even," the documents said, noting Ye later learned "Tall Guy" didn't have enough equity to make the bogus sale worthwhile.Ryan said in his affidavit that he expected proceeds-of-crime charges would eventually be laid, in addition to the criminal charges Yong and associates already face in the drug-trafficking conspiracy.
"I believe that upon completion of the financial investigation conducted by the CFSEU-B.C. Proceeds of Crime Team, reports will be prepared and will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada recommending charges against Yong Long Ye, his family members and a number of other persons.

governmentality: Caroline Kennedy In the manner that Fresh York Senator

My recent piece in New York Press
Crackd Budget
With hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, will Gov. David Paterson enforce a mandatory rehab program for the state’s ‘addiction to consultant crack?’
By Allen McDuffee
The panic in Albany is very real. With a fiscal crisis expected to balloon to a $47 billion deficit in the 2011- 2012 fiscal year and the source of 25 percent of the state’s tax income still unstable on Wall Street, Governor Paterson is asking for help and suggestions. But is he listening? A new report from one of New York’s largest unions says that the state’s addiction to hiring consultants to do the work that state employees are more than capable of doing is unnecessarily costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars a year and adding to the already out-of-control deficit.
The Public Employees Federation issued a December report, “Beating New York State’s Consultant Addiction: How the State Can Save $730 Million,” stating that with New York facing such unprecedented fiscal challenges, the state can “no longer afford to waste between $417 million and $705.8 million annually on costly consultants to do the work that can be done by state employees just as well and at a significantly lower cost.”

That which is the average price to pay for performance classes? | Dramatic Action

I havent acted many times, but i can be such a drama queen, says my mom. And i love being in plays, and seeing them too! Its hard for me though because i am young, and my parents probably dont want to hire an agent unless they think i am serious about acting which i am.

A lot of people will tell you to get an agent. An agent is only something you should seek once you are a trained, polished, working actor.
You should never pay an agent, agency, manager, or casting director any money or fees prior to you landing a job they sent you on. Then, and only then, do they get paid - and that is a percentage of what you make - usually 10 - 15%.
It seems to be a popular myth in this forum that you NEED an agent to be a working actor. That is simply not true. You can find a lot of auditions and jobs on your own without an agent. I have done professional theatre, films, and national television all without an agent.
If you are really going to go for NYC or LA and have already built up your resume, have years of training, good reputation and press, then, yes, you probably do want to pursue an agent - but an agent is really NOT the place to start.
Everyone here will probably tell you to start at school, taking classes and doing school plays. That is a good way to start. You can also start auditioning for plays and films outside of school. Why not? Know that you are not going to get cast in everything you audition for - but why be content with just school stuff. You learn the most from actually doing.
Without knowing the area in which you live, I cannot give you direct links to auditions in your area. Google is a really handy tool, though, for finding auditions. You can use craigs list to find local auditions - a lot of these are legit - but always use caution and common sense when answering an ad from craigs list. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If they use terminology like instead of - they have no idea what theyre doing and should be avoided.
ExploreTalent.com is a good tool, if you know how to use it. They charge you to submit for roles you might be good for. But you can look up what films and plays are auditioning in your area - and then use google to look them up and find a direct way (for free) to set up an audition.
You can also use google to look up local teatres. Most theatre sites will tell you how to audition (either with an audition notice on their site) or if it is a more professional theatre, it will tell you where and how they usually hold auditions and/or where to submit your picture and resume.
So to become an actress
*Read a lot of plays and familiarize yourself with them. Practice reading them out loud. This will help you for when you audition and you have to read something youve never seen before for the audition.
*Take classes whenever you can. People on here will tell you that no one can teach you how to act. Maybe thats true, I dont know. But what classes will give you is practice. Your teacher will guide you to give a stronger performance and help you polish your craft. You will get to perform in front of other people in a pressure-free environment and you will be challenged to try things you havent.
*Audition whenever you can. Auditioning is a skill in and of itself. The more you do it, the easier it will become. The hardest thing, especially for an actor starting out, is to not place too much importance on any one audition. If you dont get cast, dont let it crush you - just move on to the next audition. It may be a blessing in disguise! There have been times when I have been really disappointed when I wasnt cast in a show or a role that I thought I really wanted - only to have something much better come along - which I wouldnt have been able to do if I were cast in the other show. The other thing actors tend to do is talk themselves out of going to an audition. Dont do that. GO! Go to all the auditions you can. Dont try to guess what the director is looking for. Dont convince yourself youre not right, not experienced enough, etc. to go. Just go! Challenge yourself. And then feel proud of yourself for going afterwards.
*As you read plays, start collecting monologues that you like. Actors need to have a few monologues on hand and ready in case an audition comes up that requires a monologue instead of just cold reading. Memorize your monologues and work on them. Perform them in front of family, friends - anyone you can get to watch you. If it can be helped, you should never go into an audition with a monologue you have never performed before.
*Once you have some experience (plays, classes, etc.), put together a resume - and keep it up to date. Your resume should have your name in large clear type at the top. Your phone number, e-mail address - for contact information. Never put your address or your social security number on your resume. You should also put your hair color and eye color. Height and Weight is also recommended. If you sing, you should put your voice range as well. These items go toward the top of your resume. Union status would go directly under your name, if you were part of a union.
*Next, your resume will be divided into sections - THEATRE, FILM, TELEVISION, TRAINING, SPECIAL SKILLS. Dont worry about it if you dont have credits in all of these categories - just use the ones you need. For THEATRE - you would create 3 columns - Play - Role - Theatre -
EXAMPLE:
Twelfth Night - Viola - City Shakespeare Company
Mikado - Yum Yum - City GS Society
Cinderella - Cinderella - City Childrens Theatre
The film and television categories would work the same way, except instead of listing a theatre, you would list the production company.
*The TRAINING section of your resume - should include anything youve had training in, which could relate to the theatre and film industry. Acting classes, voice lessons, dance, gymnastics, stage combat, teleprompter, acting for film, etc. These should be listed - by Skill - Teacher - School or Studio
*The SPECIAL SKILLS section of your resume should include anything you do well, that you think could come in handy - accents, musical instruments you play, juggling, riding a unicycle, any sports you can play, etc. For beginning actors - training and special skills are probably going to be the biggest categories on your resume, but dont worry - that will change.
*Eventually you will need a headshot. As an actress just starting out, this shouldnt really be your first priority. However, if you are so inclined, you can easily google headshot photographers in your area. Or even have a friend with a really good digital camera take some pictures of you with a blank background. Take a look at some professional headshots first, so you can get an idea of the look.
*Headshots are 810 - and your resume gets stapled to the back of it - which means you need to make sure you cut your resume down to size.
*There are always auditions - no matter where you live. Some people think that just because you dont live in NYC or LA you cant work as an actor. There are theatres everywhere. There are people making independent films everywhere. There are people shooting industrials and training films everywhere. You just have to seek them out.
*As an actor, you have to be resourceful and smart. Dont fall for scams - any place claiming that they can make you a star and charges a lot of money. It doesnt work that way. Acting schools that charge thousands of dollars (other than legit colleges and academies.) Just be cautious and use your common sense. If something doesnt feel right - go with your gut and avoid it. There will ALWAYS be other opportunities. Check the arts section of your local newspapers - often auditions are listed there. Use google to find auditions. Dont sign up for a site that charges money. Most are scammy - or like Backstage - youre not ready for.
*Go see a lot of live theatre. You can learn a lot by watching other actors.
~And as for looks. Casting directors DO care about looks. But in saying that, they dont want everyone to look the same. There NEEDS to be actors of all shapes, sizes, color, and attractiveness. There are lots of different types of roles. So try not to worry too much about your look or trying to look The truth is - you WILL look perfect for some roles - and not for others.
~Im going to be behind the table (for once) at an audition for a feature film today. Hopefully, Ill learn more about acting and auditioning - and what directors notice today - since Ill get to watch all of the auditions. Ive been handling all of the actors submissions for the film - and that has been fascinating, too!
Sorry for the super long post. I hope you find it helpful. Good luck! And I wish you a long and successful acting career.

Spa-Business » Bahamas Northwest Salon and Twenty-four hours Mineral spring opens in Fresh

Elaine Hemenway adores Cassiels Day Spa.
She feels connected to the people. She loves the serene atmosphere. She relishes the massages, the manicures, the pedicures.
I always feel good there, she said.
But Hemenway doesnt go for her favorite day spa services quite as often these days. She has scaled back her spending on everything from food to clothes. A monthly massage feels good, but it isnt a necessity.
Shes too concerned about the nose-diving economy to spend as freely as she used to.
I think everyone is, said Hemenway, who runs a family business of her own in the area.
In slow economies, nonessential purchases are often the first thing to go as families try to save money. Four weeks after the stock market began its historic roller-coaster ride (four of the Dows biggest gains and four of its biggest losses happened in the past month), Lewiston-Auburn businesses are seeing people tighten their purses.
From upscale day spas to neighborhood restaurants, people are cutting back.
s been a bit slower lately, said Margaret Handville, assistant manager at the Lewiston House of Pizza, which has seen weeknight business slide. m assuming more people dont have money.
Pierre Renaud, who runs Cerenau Grooming Spa and Pet Resort in Lewiston, has seen pet owners suddenly shun his premium pet foods in favor of less expensive brands. Some dog owners are spreading out grooming appointments, holding out for 10 or 12 weeks when before, they brought Fido in every eight weeks.
In an effort to keep customers coming, Renaud is working to hold his prices as low as possible.
We take less of a profit margin, he said.
Business has been good over the past year for Blais Flower and Garden Center in Lewiston, but owner Michael Blais has noticed the traditional slow periods have been especially slow. And more customers are picking out arrangements based on cost.
re coming to us with a budget, he said. re coming to us with, I have $25 or, I have $50 and what can I do (with that)?
Jim Rand, owner of Valetone Cleaners in Auburn, said his business has been poor. Fewer dry-cleaning customers are walking through the door, and those who do are increasingly relying on credit cards to pay.
People dont have any money, I guess. More than half of our receipts are credit cards these days because they dont have the cash. You know, (customers put) $4 or $5 on the credit card, he said. s a pretty big sign.
Summer is generally a slow time for the dry cleaner. Business should have picked up a month ago for the winter season. Rand hopes it gets back to normal soon.
ve got my fingers crossed, he said.
At Cassiels Day Spa, customers were still coming in and revenues remained steady compared to last year.
I hear about people cutting back or losing out on things or husbands losing jobs. Theres a lot of sad stories right now, owner Diane Dubois said. m fortunate. Im very grateful Im not feeling the impact as much as I thought I would be.
Still, she has noticed customers getting some services less often - like Hemenway, who used to get a massage once a month and now goes once every six to eight weeks. Tips to her hairdressers and other employees are also down.
Somebody who did a $10 tip is probably doing a $5 tip. Someone who did a $20 tip might be doing a $10, she said.
Business has remained steady at Fuel, an upscale Lewiston restaurant that often draws customers from Bates College and large businesses.
Sales have gone up about 5 percent at local Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. Both stores say theyre getting the same middle-class customers, though their shopping habits are different.
They used to come here looking for a find, said Mark Unruh, who oversees the Salvation Army store in Maine. Now theyre shopping for necessity.

My Weblog: Little Bytes Quiz--New York State

From the archives (originally posted on July 3, 2006):
On a better day, Jeff had a group that was inspiring--intelligent, attentive, and curious. They sat on the steps at Federal Hall, and as he spoke, they leaned forward, listening, nodding, absorbing, and so he continued. For thirty minutes, he spoke of the early days of the republic, of Washington and Hamilton and Jefferson and Burr, of the Bill of Rights, of the transfer of the capital, of the John Peter Zenger trial and the freedom of press, of the New York Stock Exchange, of J.P. Morgan and the birth of the corporation. At the end of a productive, eloquent session like this, the teacher usually comes up to you and, knowing how difficult it can be to keep the attention of seventh and eighth-graders (a.k.a., ritalin monkeys), pays you a compliment which you return (They were very well-prepared.) and the two of you share a moment of satisfaction. As this group stood, the teacher approached, put his hands on Jeffs shoulders and whispered: Your flys open.
In certain parts of the country, the word haggle has a colorful idiom: to Jew them down...as in When we go to Chinatown, can we Jew them down? Each guide approaches this question differently. Some, especially the Jewish ones, are very direct. I have three techniques. One is to pretend Ive never heard the phrase in my life and ask them to repeat it several times, growing more and more appalled as if I just cant believe a human being in this day and age would use such a phrase. The second is to give a brief lecture on the Jewish philanthropy that supports so many of our citys cultural institutions. And the third (a two-pronged trick) is to point out that its a bit ironic to imply Jewish people are cheap when, at the end of the tour, its usually the WASP groups who neglect to tip their guide.

Madoff Craziness -- Diurnal Intel -- Fresh York Recent accounts Blog -- Of recent origin Yor

We were intrigued by the item in "Page Six" this morning that says Graydon Carter, in speaking to a group of American Express executives this week, revealed he had "buzzwords for 2009." They were: "sophisticated, innovative and entitlement."
Interesting! We knew that trend gurus like Faith Popcorn had buzzwords that people paid good money to hear, but not regular ol' magazine editor dudes. What does Graydon do with buzzwords? Are they for his own use, like does he go around the Vanity Fair offices or sit at the bar at the Waverly Inn just, like, mumbling them, like a trendy little mantra, in hopes they will guide everything that he does? Does anyone else have buzzwords for 2009? A quick survey of random people on IM this morning reveals that yes, in fact, they do!
Daily Intel editor Chris's are "thrilling, hangover, adventure"
Roving articles editor Nick Catucci's are "wandering, post-apocalyptic, whiskey"
Copy editor Megan Creydt's are "thrift, whimsy, presence"
Observer editor Doree Shafrir's are "enlightened, creative, purposeful"
Gawker editor Alex Pareene's are "reorganization, pandemic, and blagojevich"
Okay, so ours are "plump, sprightly, and tactile." What are yours.

Joshing Politics: Smith Grows A Spine, Stands Up And Denounces The

CHICAGO - With cheers and chants that echoed President-elect Barack Obama's campaign of change, jubilant workers agreed to a $1.75 million settlement that ends their six-day occupation of a shuttered Chicago factory that became a symbol of the plight of labor nationwide.Republic Windows Doors, union leaders and Bank of America reached the deal Wednesday evening. Each former Republic employee will get eight weeks' salary, all accrued vacation pay and two months' paid health care, said U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, who helped broker the deal. He said it works out to about $7,000 apiece.[...]
About 200 of 240 laid-off workers began their sit-in last week after Republic gave them just three days' notice the plant was closing. The workers had argued that Republic violated federal law because employees were not given 60 days' notice. They vowed to stay until they received assurances they would get severance and accrued vacation pay.
Workers carrying sleeping bags left the factory late Wednesday amid cheers of "Yes We Can," a slogan that became part of Obama's campaign.

Raciality.com - and Brutality: New York Incorporated town is the Novel Clockwork

.
Wilding in New York City :
Being surrounded by a gang of Brutal Teenagers that beat and kick you.

The word "wilding" comes straight from the "Clockwork Orange" movie. The "wilding spree" is a gang of sociopath teens in a rampage of violence against those that are week and defenseless.

The book was written by Anthony Burgess and the movie was filmed by Director Stanley Kubrick in 1971. It is one of the Greatest Masterpieces of Cinema.

'Anthony Burgess', lived for a time in Malaysia where his wife was beaten by four American GI's, thus giving inspiration to this story. In Malay, the word "orang" means man, like orangutan, "hutan" meaning jungle. The title of the novel is thus "The Mechanical Man", at least in Burgess mind.

This is a nightmarish fantasy of a future, where teenage hooligans neglect the laws of society and civilization, and take control of the streets after dark. The novel's main character, fifteen-year-old Alex, and his three thug friends called "droogs" in the weird language that they employ, enjoy all-night acts of random violence.

Wilding sprees are the last sport and fad in New York City, and the stage has been prepared by complacency and by authorities that tolerate and sow hate instead of preventing it.

This is crime without remorse, absolutely no empathy for the victims.

In the movie the gang of teens attacks a middle age couple in their home and rapes the wife, Alex, the main character sings "Singing in the Rain" as he beats and ties up the writer and his wife and later while raping the woman.

In the movie the gang takes a screaming wheelchair bound woman to a flight of stairs and then the sadists push her in the wheelchair down the stairs. The woman and the wheelchair tumbling down the stairs is displayed fully, there was no cut away.

Later Alex is discovered because of singing "Singing in the Rain" in the bathtub.

The pleasure of sadism and evil :

Alex DeLarge in the movie doesn't have to rationalize his behavior, he doesn't attempt to rationalize his behavior, he does what he wants because he enjoys it.

The Sadistic Teens become policemen in the movie. I hope that New York City gets better policemen in the future that the attackers and perpetrators of so many hate crimes that went unpunished in the 2000 to 2008 period. Or at least better officers and enforcers of the law that what they have now.

We should never forget the murders of two latinos in less than a month in New York City in 2008, Crimes commited by gangs of teen thugs.

And do not forget Luis Ramirez, kicked to death in Shenandoah Pennsylvania during July 2008.

Are we living in a somber World of schoolyard massacres, Nazi Teens and "wilding" ?.
